GISBIR receives Certificate of Appreciation from Australia

A Certificate of Appreciation from the AE2 Commemorative Foundation was given to the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) and GISAS Shipbuilding Co. Inc.

Suheyl Demirtas, Chairman GISAS Shipbuilding Co. Inc. and the Secretary-General Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) received a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of GISBIR and GISAS from the AE2 Commemorative Foundation for their support for the HMAS AE2 Project Silent Anzac. The AE2 Commemorative Foundation was founded by the Submarine Institute of Australia (SIA) in 2006 to preserve and protect the wreck of and to promote the historical significance of HMAS AE2 in the Sea of Marmara, which was sunk by the Turkish Navy during the World War I.

RTD. Rear Admiral Peter Briggs, President AE2 Commemorative Foundation and RTD. Commodore Terence Roach, Director AE2 Commemorative Foundation, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Suheyl Demirtas, Chairman GISAS and the Secretary-General GISBIR for their support regarding Marine Rehearsal and Training Exercise in Tuzla, Istanbul between the dates 4-56 June 2014 within the Silent Project, covering the MAA 2014 (Marine Archeological Assessment) Project

GISBIR donation for primary school students

 

Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) delivered aid in kind and made donation to Maltepe Gülsuyu Primary School in Istanbul Turkey within a social responsibility project.

GISBIR Board took a decision to undertake a refurbishment project for the principal’s office, deputy principal’s office and teacher’s lounge with aid in kind.

In addition, due to their unfavorable economic conditions of the students, 100 winter coats, 100 pairs of winter boots and 100 tshirts were donated to the students of Gülsuyu Primary School,

Having stated that this far-reaching aid provided by GISBIR was of great importance for the students and the school, Muzaffer Yeşilova, the Principal, thanked Orhan Torlak, GISBIR Vice President and Süheyl Demirtaş, the Secretary-General.

Shipbuilding Industry Meeting

 

Shipbuilding Industry Meeting has been held under the presidency of Hızırreis Deniz, General Manager, Shipyards and Coastal Structures by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications at the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) Headquarters with the participation of Murat Kıran, President GISBIR, GISBIR Board Members and representatives from the Turkish Chamber of Shipping, Unions and Classification Societies.

Issues such as enhancing qualified work force and efficiency in production in the shipyards, precautions and future proposals for the shipbuilding industrial development, legislation in force, to be revised and to be introduced, obligations of employers and the government and duties of the employee including the subcontractors, social rights, occupational health and safety of the employee have been discussed during the meeting.

SMM Istanbul 2014 was held with GISBIR support

 

SMM Istanbul 2014 international maritime conference and exhibition, the sole shipbuilding summit and conference in Turkey and a key meeting place for the maritime community as the sector comes together under one roof to display the latest high-tech innovations, products and services, was held by the support of the Turkish Shipbuilders Association (GISBIR) in Green Park Pendik Hotel & Convention Centre, Istanbul between 26-27 February 2014.

Orhan Torlak, Deputy President GISBIR, Orkun Ozek, Board Treasurer, Huseyin Mengi, Board Member, Suheyl Demirtas, the Secretary-General and Ercan Ozokutucu, the Deputy Secretary-General participated the event.

Having made an opening speech for SMM Istanbul 2014, Suheyl Demirtas, the Secretary-General acted as the Chairman of the Work Boat Executive Summit and made a presentation about the Turkish Shipbuilding Industry.

Huseyin Mengi, Board Member GISBIR and Chairman Mengi Yay Yacths, made a presentation titled “General Market Information – Turkey ranks third in the world” about the Turkish yacht building industry, which ranks the third in the world, during the Turkish Megayacht Forum.
