The fifth meeting of the Leadership Insight Series will be held on November 11, 2020, at 1:00 pm. 

We support, as one of the key sponsors of GISBIR, the meetings moderated by ICS President Esben Poulsson. This latest edition in the ICS Leadership Insights series will address:

•        Will COVID-19 delay or accelerate the digitalisation of the shipping industry?
•        Is there any aspect of shipping that won’t be affected by digitalisation?
•        Which areas of shipping will be early adopters of digital technologies?
•        At what rate will the digitalisation of shipping proceed? Tsunami or steady trickle?
•        What training and skill sets will future seafarers need to equip them for the digital revolution?

On Thursday, 22 October 2020, the EU Commission Shipyards Site visit took place.  Navtek, GİSAŞ, Sanmar Shipyard, Sefine Shipyard and Cemre Shipyard were visited during the visit of Ocean Finance Operations Managing Director Panos Zacharioudakis.

GISBIR Secretary-General Mrs. Mehtap ÖZDEMİR, R&D Specialist Mr. Gökhan Murat KAYA, R&D Specialist Mr. Doğanay ÖZDÖL, and from NAVTEK company Cansu TUNCER, and Ümit ATAMAN were involved.

The shipyard zone was introduced, with zero-emission Zee-Tug. After the sail,  Sanmar Shipyard was visited. In the afternoon, a field visit to the Sefine Shipyard and Cemre Shipyard in the Yalova Area took place.

During the visit, shipyard capabilities and processes were shared by the shipyard managers. Furthermore, by contacting the department managers, technical specifics were learned.

The global economy is under stress and the future direction of national policies and corporate strategies will have a fundamental impact on the future of shipping and international trade. To better understand the shifts in the operating environment we have launched the digital ICS Leadership Insights Series. The programme will bring together industry leaders, policymakers and financiers to discuss the global shifts that have arisen in the wake of the pandemic and chart the path back to economic growth, stability and resilience.  

In September, the first two meetings of the series, consisting of a total of six session, took place. The series, scheduled for two meetings per month, to take place in October and November, being sponsored by the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR).

The Series is chaired by Esben Poulsson, Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping.Key issues that will be covered by the series include:

•        Developing resilient and sustainable economies in the wake of COVID-19.
•        New alliances and geopolitical tensions.
•        How to restart trade and travel?

We are proud to share our GISBIR Primary School Project, which we started on Thursday, June 4, 2020. 

Improving the Turkish shipbuilding industry, helping the Turkish shipyards to take place in the world market, finding solutions for everyday problems of shipyards through relevant authorities, associations, and organizations, representing the Turkish Shipbuilding Industry in national and international areas are among the missions of GISBIR. 

Our works and donations keep going on since 1971. As Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association we contribute to the continuation of the success of our society in production with well-educated individuals. We are proud to offer GISBIR Primary School into our country and Tuzla region.

A meeting was held at the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) office, on 13 July 2020 for the Revision of the Regulation on Degassing of Ships and Water Vehicles.

During the meeting, innovation studies and Regulation on Degassing of Ships and Water Vehicles discussing were held on.

We are proud to be announcing the official representative of the Turkish shipbuilding industry for 50 years.

“Digital Maritime Week” meetings, organized by ten exhibitions and conferences held in different parts of SEATRADE, will take place online between 22-26 June.

Turkey Shipbuilders Association is Gold Sponsors of the Digital Maritime Week. During the five days, nine sessions will be held.

“Future of the Turkish Maritime Sector” session will start on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at 16:00. SEATRADE President Mr. Moderated by Chris HAYMAN, Mr. BIMCO President Kaptanoğlu from Damascus, a maritime vision of Turkey and the region and will chat about the future.
