43th General Assembly of the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) was held on 28 May 2013 at 16.00 at GISBIR headquarters with an active participation of Murat KIRAN, President GISBIR, Board Members, Finance and Law Advisors and Members of GISBIR.

51 member shipyards, 18 real person members of GISBIR, Mümin HEYBET, Governor Tuzla, Suat Hayri AKA, Deputy Undersecretary at the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Metin KALKAVAN, Chairman Turkish Chamber of Shipping, Cengiz KAPTANOGLU, President of the Assembly Chamber of Shipping, Erol YÜCEL, President of the Assembly Shipping Industry Union of Chamber and Commodity Exchanges, Gani AYGÜN, President Port of Istanbul, Bahri ŞAHİN, President Port of Tuzla and many other prominent persons from the Maritime industry honoured the 43th Ordinary General Assembly, which began with the telgraph sent by HE Binali YILDIRIM, Minister Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications addressed to Murat KIRAN, President GISBIR saying: “ Thank you for your kind invitation. I’m unable to attend the General Assembly due to my intense agenda. Wishing you all a successful General Assembly, I present my compliments and greetings to all participants.” The General Assembly continued with calling the roll and opening, stand in silence, the Turkish National Anthem and the Annual Report 1 January 2012-31 December 2012 of the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association Organization. Regarding the Annual Report, a 15-minute-long movie presenting the activities of Murat KIRAN, President GISBIR and Board Members was showed. The 43th General Assembly was finalized after reading and discussion of financial and audit reports, absolution of 2012 activities, discussion and voting of 2013 forecast budgets and expressing wishes and desires.

Students from the World Maritime University visited GISBIR

Students from the World Maritime University visited the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) Headquarters in the presence of Mr. Ozgur Cilli, Board Member and Mr. Suheyl Demirtas, the Secretary-General and watched a presentation about GISBIR, the Turkish shipbuilding industry and the Turkish maritime from Sevnur Cakmak, Press, PR and Promotion Specialist GISBIR.

University of Utah visited GISBIR Headquarters

University of Utah visited GISBIR Headquarters with a delegation of 75 people. Süheyl DEMİRTAŞ, Secretary-General GISBIR made a presentation about the Turkish shipbuilding industry and GISBIR and answered the questions.

GISBIR visited Keppel Offshore Marine, the leading offshore company, at Sea Asia in Singapore

GISBIR Board Member Özgür ÇİLLİ and the Secretary-General Süheyl DEMİRTAŞ had a meeting with Tong Chong Heong, CEO Keppel Offshore Marine, the leading offshore company, at Sea Asia in Singapore

GISBIR supported the Turkish Red Crescent Blood Donation Campaign

Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) supported the Turkish Red Crescent Blood Donation Campaign in Tuzla Shipyards Region, Istanbul on 5 February 2013 intended for GISBIR, GISAS Shipbuilding Industry Co. Inc. and all shipyard workers.

GISBIR Secretary-General Suheyl DEMIRTAS and GISBIR Secretariat met Dr. Burak KIZANLIK, Manager Kartal Blood Donation Centre and Mrs. Gamze KALIN, Blood Donator Acquisition Specialist at 11.00 o’clock in GISAS Corporate Health and Security Unit. Following doing the necessary tests and filling out the forms, blood donation was completed.
