Mrs. Mehtap Karahallı Özdemir, who worked at different levels in the Maritime Industry for many years and contributed for the sector’s improvement has been appointed as a new Secretary-General of GISBIR. Gisbir’s new Secretary-General Mrs. Özdemir graduated from Istanbul Technical University as Naval Architec and Marine Engineer and earned her MBA degree from Gebze Technical University. She has 20 years experience in maritime and industry sectors.
Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) celebrates its 47th Foundation Anniversary as the sole representative of the Turkish shipbuilding industry since the year 1971.
For the celebration event on 1st July, at Maritime Cabotage Day ; Chamber Of Turkish Naval Architects And Marine Engineers organized a breakfast early hour of the day and then the celebration a wreath had been released into the sea.

48th Ordinary Meeting of the General Assembly of the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) was held on 11 May 2018 in the headquarters of GISBIR. The list, created by Mr. Murat Kıran, current Chairman of the Board, was the only list submitted to the election. Having achieved a record attendance of 97 members, Murat Kıran received all of the votes and has been elected as the new Chairman of the Board for three years. In the 48th Ordinary Meeting of the General Assembly, the legislation amendment was adopted and the number of board members was designated as eleven people.
14th Mare Forum was held on Italy 8 of May 2018. President Foreign Relations Commission Mr. Nurettin Çalışkan, Member Foreign Relations Commission Mr. M. Erhan Esinduy and Head of External Relations Miss Elvan Erken attended the conference.

GISBIR attended Asia Pacific Maritime 2018 exhibition that took place in Singapore GISBIR and Turkish Shipbuilding Industry came together with the world’s foremost authorities and representatives of maritime community. At Asia Pacific Maritime 2018 Turkish Ambassador in Singapore, Mr. Murat Lütem and Commercial Counsellor Mr. Hürol Karlı visited the booth of GISBIR.
