A delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning visited GISBIR HQ
The delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning visited the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) HQ regarding the Technical Assistance for Capacity Building for Prevention of Marine Pollution Caused by Ship-Sourced Wastes, which commenced on the date of 12.03.2015, falling into the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance Constituent 1 and whereof the Ministry is a beneficiary.
The meeting took place with the participation of Bilgehan Bayramoglu, the Vice President GISBIR, Orkun Ozek, the Board Treasurer GISBIR, M. Ercan Ozokutucu, the Vice Secretary-General GISBIR, Turkan Manasir Oz, the Director of Environment, GISAS Shipbuilding Co. Inc., Serpil Durak, the Unit Head of the General Directorate for Environmental Management, Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, Grontmij Team Leader Guido van Meel and other representatives.
Issues regarding the ballast water and sediment management were discussed during the meeting. Subsequent to the meeting at GISBIR HQ, the delegation paid a technical visit to a shipyard in order to observe the related activities on site.
